UNESCO Child & Family Research Centre’s Youth as Researchers

Niamh has worked with youth and community film-making projects since 2010. A committed facilitator and tutor, she works with schools, youth groups, rural and urban community projects to help them create work that gives them a collective voice. Over the years she has worked with organisations such as SpunOut, Foróige, UNESCO Child & Family Research Centre, NUI Galway, Alan Kerins African Projects and the Galway Film Centre.

Syrian Voices from Ireland

In 2015, the Irish Government pledged to take in 4,000 refugees from Greece, Italy and from refugee camps in Lebanon under the Irish Refugee Protection Programme. So far, only a small portion of this quota has been filled. After speaking with people from Irish NGOs, it became apparent that more information needs to be spread about Ireland to refugees who are facing major decisions regarding where they will spend the next chapter of their family life.

Community Filmmaking

Swansong Films has been involved in many community outreach projects, please view a few of them here.
