Niamh Heery’s feature drama A Means to an End has been selected for The Writers Lab UK & Europe 2023. The screenplay, an ecodrama following a photojournalist covering a fracking operation on the Northern Irish border, has been in development with Screen Ireland and producer Roisín Geraghty of Little Rose Films. The initiative is supported by actors and producers Meryl Streep, Nicole Kidman, Oprah Winfrey and Cate Blanchett.
Niamh joins the development and marketplace programme devoted to script development for women and nonbinary screenwriters over 40, in September. Advisors and guests will include Succession writer Susan Soon He Stanton, Call My Agent! star Camille Cottin, The Split writer Abi Morgan, I May Destroy You story consultant Stephanie Yamson, Call Me By Your Name casting director and line producer Stella Savino, founder of the British Blacklist Akua Gyamfi, Better Things creator and star Pamela Adlon and 11 Flowers producer Didar Domehri.
