Upcoming screenings and interview with Niamh Heery

Pause continues it’s festival appearances with screenings at the Belfast Film Festival (30 March – 8 April 2017) and the Irish Film Festa Rome (30 March – 2 April 2017).

Ahead of the Italian screening Niamh spoke to the festival about the making of the film and what inspired it:

I wanted to play around with the narrative structure of the film without resorting to flashbacks. Another consideration when writing Pause was the (pretty non-existent) budget… So it forced me to become creative in how the story played out and that’s when the idea of using old cassette tape recordings came into it. I think nostalgia can be a very powerful thing when used in an even-handed way in film. Sound triggers memories in a very sensory way.
